Arthouse Cinemas Network is a programme aimed at disseminating film culture through introduction of high artistic value films, including educational ones, to distribute in Arthouse Cinemas Network

The goal is to increase the amount of artistically valuable European films, including Polish ones, in our cinemas' repertoire, supporting young audience repertoire and consolidation and promotion of the cinemas realizing the above-mentioned goals. The cinemas voluntarily acceding to the Arthouse Cinemas Network commit themselves to grant 50% of their repertoire to European films (out of which 20% is granted to Polish films). ACs are also obliged to fulfil the role of the film culture dissemination centres.

The programme's executor - Filmoteka Narodowa - co-finances film distribution costs or the costs of ACs functioning. Range and rate of co-financing depends on film type and the funds available at FN.

  1. Support in European (including Polish) film distribution - FN finances:
    • making of a copy for ACNetwork use only (up to 4 copies);
    • share of promotion costs - refers to films distributed by Arthouse Cinemas Network on priority terms (i.e. in the network in the first place), as well as all Polish films.
  2. Support in world classic films distribution - FN finances the making of a copy (up to 4 copies) as well as part of the promotion costs.
ACs except for the access to “art-house copies", benefit from the discount in cash settlements from film distribution on priority terms. They may also count for financial aid from FN if organizing ventures disseminating film culture. The aid’s amount depends on the ventures range.

Support claims for the above-mentioned ventures are being endorsed by the Group of FN Experts. The manager of FN takes into account their opinions and applies for the relevant funds at the Ministry of Culture.
